It seems already that there is this feeling of uncertainty among the Auburn camp due to several key players being knocked out of fall practice before the temperatures have come back to double digits. I gotta be honest, I am as excited as ever about this season; however, the news of Tristan, Doolittle, Bosley (even though it turned out to be minor) and a possible injury with Carl Stewart are bringing feelings back that I never wanted to feel again...I'm talking about the feeling I used to get before I played a football game in High School my senior year. THAT was the year I was the starting punt returner...Let's just say my bad feelings before the game were accurate indicators of future happenings.
I say this because as a team, the LAST thing we need (especially considering the nature of our rebuilding certain key units) is negativity, a loss of confidence, or any reason to doubt ourselves. That's the one thing the makes Auburn so great as underdogs - confidence. We all know what an underrated team can do when chemistry and confidence are present. (SEE: AU 2004)
I really don't know why TT decided we were going to unleash the defenses on our quarterbacks this past week. Perhaps to put pressure on them to "make plays." Not the brightest of ideas; but it's amazing how out of a stupid decision can come great discoveries. Welcome Kodi Burns. I look forward to seeing how Dameyune Craig can do with a good defense in the TT era.
After reading and discussing with Ragan, I believe we have found someone who is going to be an All-American in 2 years in Lee Ziemba. Someone who is dominating a senior, All-American DE Quentin Groves in practice (so a source says) in one on one drills DURING HIS FIRST WEEK deserves some applause.
It's about that time. 17 days till cowbells will be sounding when Mississippi State gives a darn good game to LSU. But more importantly, 19 days and the Eagle will be flying...

I don't often disagree with my favorite (tied with Rob, Mack, Thomas, Hank and Nolen) nephew.
And it's easy for me to say this ... north side of 40 years old and left 200 pounds in the dust like Greg Smith at a Pizza Hut buffet years ago.
As Nathan Arizona said in "Raising Arizona" when asked if he had any disgruntled employees.
"Hell, they're all disgruntled. I ain't runnin' a daisy factory."
One immutable fact: football is a contact sport. Immutable fact No. 2: players get hurt.
We have only one player that we cannot afford to get hurt -- Duct Tape.
The other QBs needed to get hit -- Caudle had not been hit since the second game of his senior year in high school. Pardon me, Mr. K-State defensive end, but I'm wearing an orange jersey. You can't touch me.
I hate it for Caudle, but he's clearly brittle. Ensminger is a legacy via his daddy coach, and legacies we understand are usually given bids (Unless they are closet cases like Fred ... my brother! -- Animal House, 1979). I get the feeling Tubs would rather bring back Jeff Klein of 1999 rather than allow Blake "Stay Off The" Field to get into action.
Plus, it lets the defense know that there's a new sheriff in town Ko-D, aka Dameyune II.
Some of the theory that you try to redshirt Dameyune II, save him for down the road. Me, I quote the Good Book. "Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow ... James 4:14 (KJV)" Translated, if he can play, play him now. I think he can play.
Next year, I want my starting QB as we head to Morgantown for Game 1 to have some experience rather than a redshirt freshman with no game experience. That's just me.
Mr. C (Jason Bosley, so nicknamed by man Iron in honor of Mr. C from Happy Days played by Tom Bosley -- also C is his position) ... good news he's OK. We were in a bad position on the line. That would mean Pugh would have to play ... maybe start because Leon "No" Hart can't be trusted to play center, and might even stand aside to Mike Berry (a redshirt). If Ziemba and Pugh were both playing starting or heavily prominent roles, well 2 true freshmen in the OL is a recipe for fried ear cheese, which is a disaster in my book.
I figure the only Earster is cranking up the Misinformation Wagon to do some donuts in the Saban yard. You will hear a lot.
So here's the truth, if you can handle it: Carl Stewart is fine -- he's high on the list of the folks you don't want to get hurt ... Ziemba will yell "Timba" when he knocks somebody down ... our receivers are OK ... Wes Byrum ends doing all the kicking ... punting up in the air.
I hate we lost Tristan, but it means we'll see more of Super Mario, which I have a feeling we will any way cause No. 1 is a little soft in my book.
I'm a fan of manly backs -- I loved Cadillac, but my AU favorites are in no particular order: Bo, Ronnie, Bostic, and Fullwood. Then Cadillac.
There's something about a freight train blowing through town that brings back memories of living in Arcadia Apartments and hearing the train at 1:45 a.m. every day.
We may win 8, we may win 10, but I think we're going to like this team.
Fannin, Lester and Lee are all exceptional athletes and I do believe they will get the job done. However, Tristan's absence is going to cost us at least 2-3 touchdowns...
